About Us
Outpost Field Notes started with a simple problem: most outdoor advice is either written for people who already know what they’re doing, or it’s so polished and curated it doesn’t feel like it belongs to real life. This is the in-between. Field-tested guides, written in plain language, by someone who’s actually done the thing, not just read about it.
Right now that means dry camping, but the plan is bigger than one topic. As the library grows, expect more of the same approach applied to more of the outdoors: practical guides for slower weekends, rustic stays, hands-on skills, and real adventures, whatever getting outside looks like for you.
Frankie’s spent years getting outside the hands-on way: pitching tents, packing coolers, learning the hard way what actually matters and what doesn’t. She’s made most of the mistakes these guides warn you about (cold feet, not enough water, a rained-out first night) so you don’t have to.
Outpost Field Notes started as notes scratched in a notebook kept in the glovebox: things that worked, things that didn’t, things nobody tells you before your first trip. It’s grown from there, and it’ll keep growing, but the goal stays the same: practical, field-tested help for real time outdoors, without needing to be an expert first.
She’s someone like you, who wanted to spend more time outside and figured out the rest as she went.
